Armida became OVERSHINE Wine Co. in 2024 — just as this beauty was about to hit the market — so you cannot find this ANYWHERE else! Sam’s a 4th generation winemaker, and creator of the culty, somm-fave brand IDLEWILD — and he used Armida to explore terrain across the North Bay to craft some small-production, killer value wines that always punched outside of their weight class. Armida’s brick & mortar space may be no more — a stronghold for decades on Sonoma’s revered Rodeo Drive of the famed Westside Road — but the legacy in the bottle is as strong as ever!
2021 was an utterly MAGICAL growing season, and because it was so long, and so even — even a cool, rocky, steeply sloped hillside like the one-acre Parmelee-Hill Vineyard had the opportunity to get fully ripe (not to mention, CRAZY complex!) This drop-dead gorgeous, and downright sumptuous Zin races out the bottleneck with alluring waves of smoky plums, and cool cassis, with homemade blackberry jam, plus these gravitas-adding notes of cedar, and cumin. Once it hits your tongue, get ready for the burst of blueberries, and raspberries, with this salty, ocean-breeze freshness, and wild, coastal forest earthiness, punctuated by this little pop of burnt orange peel on the finish. It’s bold, but not heavy, and the balance is flat-out exceptional. Elegant and Zinfandel don’t often come together…but this brings it together like peanut butter and jelly.
