Just landed, with a fresh, new disgorgement for a price that stuns. This is one of my personal go-to Champagnes, and I keep a few on hand at all times for last-minute bubbly needs and host gifts…and just to CRUSH like a steamroller whenever I can.
Laura Deschannes is the queen behind the scenes here — and she just so happens to be the long-time partner of Arnaud Gallimard! They are the definition of a Les Riceys Grower Champagne Power Couple — and their wines simply DESTROY big house Champagne offerings for a fraction of the price!!!
This “Tradition” is a 100% Pinot Noir Champagne that checks all the boxes: fresh and round, perfectly balanced, awash with elegance, and downright decadent! With 60% coming from the 2022 vintage in the family’s holdings surrounding Les Riceys, and 40% from the family’s perpetual reserve — the wine shows a fleshy richness and elegant opulence — with a preponderance of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and lime leaf sensations. A creamy, citrus accent — and I’m talking old-school creamsicle from the drug store — follows, with a finish built out with flecks of minerality and a quarry’s worth of pulverized chalk. Crazy crowd-pleaser bubbly at its tippy-top BEST — and for UNDER $30 a bottle — I can assure you, it’s well worth it!
